ZaCSA’s Heart of the Community Award:

Mara Russell and Dawn Carlson

Last week, ZaCSA honored TWO Heart of the Community Award recipients: Mara Russell and Dawn Carlson.

Mara not only works as the Patient Advocate on Camp Zama, but she also volunteers her time to quite a few organizations. She is currently the Camp Zama Mayor, part of the Zama American High School PTO, a VFW auxiliary member, and a volunteer for the Treasure Trove. Mara inspires others by the way she conducts herself and her hard work behind the scenes has greatly impacted the Camp Zama community.

Dawn is the PTO President for Arnn Elementary School, a Youth Sports coach (basketball and softball), and a dedicated volunteer for ZaCSA. She is co-chair for community events, has opened her home for the Tour of Homes, helped with a booth at the Friendship Group Carnival, was on the nominating committee, and was on the cupcake committee for the Cherry Blossom Festival. Dawn exemplifies “Heart of the Community” by touching so many facets of our community and giving freely of her time!
